Over the summer of 2007, the large traditional tarmac play area of the school has been completely transformed to the delight of the pupils at Heather Avenue. With adequate space, the opportunity has been taken to provide different areas to meet the abilities, interests and moods of all the children in the 5-11 age range.

An area reserved for ball kicking contrasts with another laid out for sitting and social interaction. For the active, there is a trail to encourage activity and exercise. For imaginative play, one of our play boats is set on a wet-pour resin surface coloured to create an island in the sea.
